Libyans play with our lives. Some can come saying they will hire you but truly they’re going to robe you, kidnap you for ransoming or kill you……
Gone in adventure to find the Eldorado they are back without reaching the Promised Land. 227 migrants hoping the gather gold and silver by crossing the ocean to Europe finally harvested slavery, eagerness and bitterness. It is with mingled feelings that the Burkinabe who went in adventure landed in Ouagadougou and among men and women are some children. Very disappointed for not coming with silver nor gold but very happy for being saved, being alive.
We fought that by going to Libya, it would be easier for us to reaching Italia but what we lived was above our expectations, the situation is worst over there. You see a country without President a ruler it is very difficult. Said a migrant.
I was still going to school when I decided to leave because I couldn’t afford my school fees. So I tried the adventure hoping to find a better situation. Unfortunately, Libyans play with our lives. Some can come saying they will hire you but truly they’re going to robe you, kidnap you for ransoming or kill you if you. Said another migrant.
Regarding the situation they’re experiencing there, the migrants freely chose to come back to home. At their landing the 227 migrants were welcomed by authorities of which the secretary of the ministry of women and solidarity. This voluntary homecoming is for her a feeling of joy and bitterness at the same time.
A feeling of joy because they are back and we’re very happy to see them. Bitterness because it is the work force of the country that is going in exile in adventure and when this work force is back it after having undergone many difficult situations. Said Fati Ouedraogo the secretary of the ministry of women and solidarity.
The International Organization for Migrations supported this migrants’ homecoming trough its program Support to migrants’ voluntary homecoming and reinsertion.
As IOM we know that migration has always existed in life. It is something that will never stop. It is true that those past years the number of migrants exploded and the flux of people who migrate must be very well handle. So we try to support countries member to our organization in order to see how we could rightly handle the current migration phenomenon because it is the most intensive migration phenomenon that the world has ever experience. Said the IOM country manager.
For each migrants IOM will disburse 1000 € to train them and help for their activities of reinsertion in rural areas.
